    If it’s just a few boxes, under 70lbs each, I would suggest FedEx or UPS. If you think it might be a pallet of boxes, look up some local LTL (less than truckload) freight carriers, i.e. Roadway, Conway, etc. Don’t pay for a moving company unless you have a complete truckload. Be careful with the instruments and make sure to insure the shipment

    Ship all your clothes and non breakables (like dvds) FedEx.
    Put your instruments and other breakables in your car with you.

    I’m moving in a few weeks and I’ve already starting sending boxes, a large box full of clothes & shoes costs me about $60 each. It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than renting a Uhaul for $2000!
