When checking in your luggage, ask to have it sent right through to Bangkok. That way, you won’t lose time claiming your luggage in HKG and re-checking it in. If your flight arrives a little late, the other flight will be delayed leaving to allow you time to change flights. If you are delayed a significant amount of time, you will be put on the next available flight.

One hour and ten minutes is plenty of time as long as your incoming flight isn’t too late. All flights at HKIA arrive and depart from Terminal 1 at HKIA. Cathay Pacific will often display the gate your connecting flight departs from on your seat back monitor before you touch down in HK, if not check the monitors in the airport.

When transferring from the arrivals level to the departure level, look for the transfer points W1, W2 or E1 and E2 located on opposite ends of the terminal. You will need to show your connecting flight boarding pass and passport and clear security, but that usually only takes a few minutes. If your connecting flight is on the other end of the terminal, you can take the underground shuttle train that takes just a minute or two, or walk or use the moving walkways which doesn’t take long either.

HKIA is one the most efficient and easiest airports in the world to connect through. I took a different connecting flight on Cathay over 40 times with only a 40 minute layover and never once missed my connection. You shouldn’t have any worries.
