Cheapest would probably be National Express Coach (Flightline) it goes from Birmingham to Gatwick. Its a fairly long journey though (done it myself). The other alternative would be to catch a train. I’m not sure if this service still runs, but there used to be a train that went straight through from Birmingham to Gatwick a couple of times a day. Check the website thetrainline.co.uk for more info.

I agree with the answer above, National Express coach is the best option. The journey isn’t necessarily that long, but the problem is the coach stops twice at Heathrow before heading on to Gatwick which makes the journey seem longer. It takes about 3.5 hours.

The service is the Flightline 210 coach. They can catch the coach at Digbeth coach station in Birmingham city centre, or they can catch the coach at Birmingham Airport. The best way to get to the airport by public transport is to get a train to Birmingham International station where you can then take a monorail-thing to the airport terminal.

If your parents are under 60 it will cost them £64 one way. If they are over 60 it will be £32.

Just make sure they don’t accidentally get off at Heathrow!
