Travelling from Gatwick to Oxford by train involves getting the Gatwick Express to Victoria, getting the tube to Paddington and then getting the train to Oxford. Gatwick Express is expensive!

Best option will be to get a coach. See the link below, they go every hour throughout the day and it only takes 2 hours or so. A few years ago it used to cost about £15 return, it’s probably more like £20. It’s direct and the coaches are nice, clean and safe. You don’t need to worry about changing either. Whereabouts in Oxford are you staying? If staying in the city centre best to get off at Gloucester Green, if you are staying in a university college best to get off at Queen’s Lane, or if at Brooks get off at Gypsy Lane (the driver will call out the station stops in advance).

From Gatwick take a train to London Victoria Station, Avoid the Gatwick Express as the prices are a rip off. Get one of the regular trains instead. Less than 10 minutes in the time taken but half the cost.

A Victoria Station cross the forecourt to Victoria bus station. National Express have high speed coaches direct to Oxford.
